What You Need to Know When Booking a Hotel

Have you ever had that sinking realisation that your paying more for your hotel room than the person next to you. Booking hotels can sometimes feel like an unfair system and so here at Hotel Buyer we have come up with some tips on how to get the best deals.

When it comes to booking your holiday, is it best to grab that
last minute deal, or plan your dream trip months in advance?

Is It Worth Looking Around?

Shopping around and comparing prices definitely pays off. You could start by looking at the hotels own website and getting a price direct from them. You might get lucky and find that the hotel have a special promotion only available direct through them. If this is the case you have may saved yourself some extra spending money, but if not you can now take the price you got and see if you can better it.

Agent Or Online?

There are two ways you can do this;

You can visit an agent, they may be able to get a good price
because they have a deal in place with that particular hotel.
The second option is to use a comparison site online, there are
numerous websites that offer this service. Be sure to check what
extras are included in the price as things like breakfast can
sometimes be discreetly added onto the price at the last minute.

Booking Early Or Late?

This is a very tricky question. Much depends on the type of person you are and the type of holiday you are after. If you are someone who is fairly relaxed and don't mind where they end up on holiday then leaving it late could get you a great deal through a packaged holiday.

If you are somebody who likes to plan in advance then booking early is definitely the route to go down. Booking early allows you to have peace of mind that you have paid for the hotel and can now look forward to your holiday.

The problem with booking at the last minute is that you run the risk of the price dramatically increasing. This can happen for numerous reasons e.g. the time you go to book, the hotel only have a few rooms left meaning they can basically auction them off to the highest bidders.

In conclusion there is no definitive answer to this question. Dependant on what you are after you have to decide whether its worth the risk.

Secret Rooms

If you are not too bothered about staying in a particular hotel then
booking a secret room could get you a great deal. All you need to do
is specify the star level and location. The reason hotels do this is to
get rid of unused rooms without angering their current customer
base, who if the hotel was named would be angry at the cheaper
rates being offered to other customers.

These tips are the thoughts of Hotel Buyer who specialise in hotel supplies
including hotel bedding and hotel toiletries.
