Bedding and Bed Linen for HotelsThe importance of bedding to a hotel cannot be overstated. After all, absolutely everything else in and about the establishment - from the restaurant, to the minibar, the décor and the ambience – all revolve, ultimately, to the need for somewhere to sleep. What matters most about a guest’s stay is the quality of their sleep, and it is here that you can really make an impression that lasts. To begin with, there are the base sheets to consider. Some housekeepers will prefer a flat sheet, while others will opt for a tight, clinging fitted sheet that grasps the mattress. There is no right or wrong, and it is merely a matter of personal choice. The only aesthetic is aesthetic, as some prefer the appearance of the flat sheets when they are tucked beneath the mattress. Duvet covers are, of course, a must. Ours come with the popular envelope ends, and the cover sets come with the relevant numbers of Housewife-style pillowcases to match! As for pillowcases – what is the difference between the Oxford style and the Housewife style? Oxford pillowcases (also known as Mock Oxford',) have a fabric border around the outside, much like a picture frame (imagine a diploma, framed on the wall, to help you remember!) whereas a Housewife pillowcase is the usual tight, unadorned edging that most of us would consider as 'standard' pillowcases. But what about Bag Ends? These are very similar to Housewife pillowcases, although the opening is wide open, enabling their easy removal by the housekeeper. The folding flap of fabric holds the pillow in, as well as making the removal of the pillow a brief, sweeping action of a task. What about duvets? Or rather, what about the fillings? Traditionalists favour duck feather filling, and there is nothing wrong with this as an option. However, most prefer an artificial filling for their duvets (and pillows, for that matter,) and the choices come down to Hollowfibre and Microfibre. Microfibre is a finer version of the polyester Hollowfibre fluff, and it is generally acknowledged that hotels prefer the Microfibre for softness and comfort, due to the finer, airy and more breathable nature of the fibres in comparison to Hollowfibre pillow stuffings. We offer an incredible variety of cotton and polycotton bedding, with thread counts in 100% cotton, reaching as high as 800 threads per square inch! The higher the thread count, the higher and richer the quality the fabric itself; this denser material also offers greater warmth. Better still, 100% cotton bedding is breathable and comfortable, no matter how high the thread count.
